Philosophy
In calligraphy, “black” refers to the space where ink-and-brush has cruised through, the existence of “reality”; “white” refers to the space untouched by ink-and-brush, the representation of “void”. Everything in the universe operates by the principle of the contrast between reality and void. “Between Black and White” reflects the existence of not just black and white but the visual effect in between the two states. It’s the enormous sea between the two banks, the undulating rhythm between two mountains.
